Q & A

What is a "Free consultation"?

A free consultation is a non-clinical meeting for you to ask any questions you may have about counseling, counselor, counseling approaches, logistic questions, and so on. The meeting is usually held online (video) or over the phone with your preference. We hope this meeting is helpful for you to find more information and discuss your concerns and questions in advance.

What do we talk about in counseling?

You may talk about your concerns, goals, needs, etc.; however, you may not need to talk anything about them either. Periodical counseling can be effective to maintain your mental health, just like you go to see your dentist to clean your teeth periodically.

How often do we meet?

The frequency of the meeting depends on your needs and other conditions. You are not required to schedule a meeting weekly. Instead, we will always discuss and decide the schedule as frequently as we can.

I don't have any problems or concerns to talk about.

That's totally appropriate. Most of the clients who come to our office do not have severe mental health concerns. We encourage you to meet us without preparing in advance to avoid using the counseling for "storytelling."

How much would I be charged and how could I pay?

The rate varies depending on the service and length of the meeting.  For example, 55 minutes of individual and couples counseling is $200, and we have shorter and longer session options with different rates. Please schedule a free consultation to discuss rate options, insurance, and other financial concerns. We accept cash, check, and major credit cards payment (mail and online payment).

No Surprises Act & Good Faith Estimate

Effective January 1, 2022, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate explaining how much your medical care may cost. (“Right to Receive a Good Faith Estimate of Expected Charges” under the No Surprises Act)

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical services, including counseling and psychotherapy services, will cost. Under Section 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act (No Surprises Act), healthcare providers are required to inform individuals who do not have healthcare insurance or who are not seeking to file a claim with their plan or coverage. This act aims of protecting consumers from receiving unexpected medical bills, and you have the right to ask your healthcare provider you may choose, for Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service. If you receive a bill that is $400 or more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Please make sure to save a copy of a picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
