About Counseling
Counseling is a collaborative process that occurs in our trusting relationship(s). Rather than focusing on pathologizing or digging into possible problems, we will explore perspectives and insights to increase understanding of what is actually happening, what you may want instead, and what might be your desirable outcomes. Sometimes, we don't know what we want, and that's totally fine because we will find them together. Other times, "what we want" can be blocked by the societal messages and expectations of "what we should do." Together, we will begin seeing things differently, and as a result, meaningful shifts will occur organically.
Professional Affiliation
As a professional counselor, it is critical to be affiliated with professional organizations and compliant with their ethical guidelines. Dr. Sano is an active member of the professional organizations below and takes active roles.
Education
Dr. Sano earned a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a Doctorate degree in Counselor Education and Supervision (Ph.D.) at Antioch University Seattle. Dr. Sano is also a faculty and teaches counselors-in-training and counselor-educators-in-training in master's and doctoral programs.
